LUNGSOD'S

LIVABILITY INDEX

What is the Livability Index?

The Livability Index is LUNGSOD's tool for
measuring a city's livability to give you an
idea of the quality of life you can attain in
a city by giving it a livability score.

What parts of livability does
the index measure?

When you think about it, livability is the
experience of a combination of factors.
That’s LUNGSOD’s Livability Index gives you
a livability score based on the total average
of eight categories that are considered
necessary for livability.

THE SUM OF THREE SIMPLE PARTS

It would be difficult to understand
any of these numbers if all we
threw at you were percentages,
statistics, and economics. Which
is exactly why we have done all of
that for you, and funneled it down
to a simple form of math that
anyone can interpret.

IT'S ALL ABOUT:

THE LIVABILITY SCORE

is the big number displayed on each city page. A city given a score between 1-10, but
with the whole point of our database being to bring you the best, most of what you’ll
see already has a 7-10 rating! The livability score is the end result of all the math.

THE CATEGORY SCORE

is a score assigned to each category for livability, that also ranges from 1-10. The
livability score alone is not enough to tell you specifically, what a city excels at. With
the category scores, you can refine your search.

Do you only care about finding a city with plenty of job opportunites? Do you want a
city that’s well rounded with what it offers? Do you have kids and want to find cities
that could offer the best education for them? These are the sort of questions that the
category scores exist to answer.

LOW, AVERAGE, & HIGH RATINGS

Both category scores and livability scores are rated on a simple scale from 1-10.
Assessing broad categories and an entire city shouldn’t as simple as rating it
from 1-10, right?

But it can be. LUNGSOD’s Livability Index divides the 1-10 scale into a range that
determines whether a rating should be considered low, average, or high.

LUNGSOD uses the richest, most advanced cities in
the country, such as Metro Manila, as its metric.

LOW: 1-4

THE QUALITY, AVAILABILITY,
AFFORDABILITY, AND VARIETY OF
EACH LIVABILITY CATEGORY IS
LACKING EVEN THE MINIMUM
REQUIREMENT TO ADEQUATELY
SUSTAIN THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE

AVERAGE: 5-7

THE QUALITY, AVAILABILITY,
AFFORDABILITY, AND VARIETY OF EACH
LIVABILITY CATEGORY IS ADEQUATE TO
MEET THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE, BUT
CANNOT FULLY COMPARE TO MORE
ADVANCED CITIES LIKE METRO MANILA

HIGH: 8-10

THE QUALITY, AVAILABILITY,
AFFORDABILITY, AND VARIETY
OF EACH LIVABILITY CATEGORY
CAN COMPETE OR BE EQUAL
WITH THOSE IN CITIES LIKE
METRO MANILA
